Who We Are

The Society of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart (MSC) is a religious community of Brothers and Priests. Listening and responding to God’s call, they are led by the Spirit and inspired by Christ’s compassionate and liberating love to be united in a bond of solidarity with all people, especially with those who suffer injustice through forced poverty, deprivation and oppression.
The MSC congregation was founded in 1854 at Issoudun, France by Fr Jules Chevalier. There are more than 2,000 MSC priests and brothers working in diverse ministries in more than 50 countries worldwide. The first MSCs arrived in the Philippines in 1908. At present there are more than a hundred Filipino MSCs doing mission in their home country and abroad. The initials MSC come from the Latin: Missionarii Sacratissimi Cordis.
