Every year different groupings of the on-going formation program of the members of the MSC Philippine province meet for a sharing of faith and life in the ministry. This year twelve of the YRM (Young Religious Missionaries), those who are 5 years in the ministry, met on July 6 – 10, 2009 at St. Ezekiel Spirituality Center, in Puerto Princesa, Palawan. They enjoyed their sharing and sightseeing afterwards.

The group of ‘midlifers’ however, met at Yampoy beach house in Lapulapu, Cebu on Oct 5-8, 2009. It was attended by 8 confreres. It was also a time for them to relax and just to enjoy each other’s presence.

The transition group (s), the biggest group among the on-going formation goupings, had their sharing in Intosan Resort, Brgy. Tabok, Danao city on Oct 19 – 21. The transition group actually is divided into two. Transition A is for those who are 6-10 years in the ministry, while Transition B is for those who are in 11-15 years. In the Transition A there were 14 who attended the meeting and 8 in the Transition B.

The yearly gathering of the groups is one of the most enjoyable gatherings among confreres. It is the time when batch mates meet and share what is going on in one’s journey of faith and life in the ministry. They share the ups and downs, joys and struggles in the different fields of ministry as Missionaries of the Sacred Heart. No wonder it’s one of the yearly gatherings that confreres look forward to.

CONTINUE TO BEAR FRUIT
In his homily, Bishop Ongtioco challenged Srs Marjorie and Lea to “continue to bear fruit by loving God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind and with all your strength. He wants you to actualize your potentials to the maximum.”

The Bishop also urged the two sisters to “be humble, have a listening heart at all times, be appreciative of what the Lord gives you each day. Be patient and persevering in all your endeavors.”

LAPU-LAPU CITY, Philippines – Instead of having a celebration among themselves in the formation center, the MSC college formands organized a Christmas party on 20 December 2008 for the poor children living in a dumpsite in Soong, Lapu-lapu City. And instead of exchanging gifts among themselves, the MSC college formands distributed gifts to the impoverished kids.

They sang, danced and played games with the little ones and staged a short drama for them.

The MSC college formands also sponsored the weekly Feeding Program for the kids in the community on that day. In order for the collegians to raise the PHP 2,000.00 needed to feed the kids, they saved money from their weekly food budget.

Formand Michael Dacalos said that the Christmas party in the Soong community was “really joyous and successful surpassing the expectation of the collegians.” To show their appreciation to the MSC collegians, the children presented a dance number for them.

Fourth-year MSC collegians visit the Soong dumpsite community every Saturday for their weekly apostolate.
